OK, we know there are a ton of things you want to know about the new coach. And we’re going to start writing as fast as possible. But, here’s one to chew on right away.
Mike Shanahan said he has conducted training camps at team facilities and away. He prefers away.
“I’ve had more success going outside,” Shanahan said. “The Super Bowls I’ve been with, most times we went out to camp. I enjoy going away if you can get the right environment. . . . If that’s possible I would like to go, but I’m not sure that’s possible.”
Virginia Beach has courted the team before. So has William & Mary in Williamsburg. University of Richmond is a possibility. The team wants to recapture its southern fan base. Carlisle and Frostburg seem unlikely.
Moving camp this summer seems unlikely. Mostly, colleges book summer camps far ahead so there may not be room. Then again, people do things when they have to so we’ll see.
